New York Red Bulls announced the contract extension of midfielder Cameron Harper on Wednesday. The new contract will take the player through 2027 with a potential for an extension to 2028.

Harper, 22 years-old, joined the team from Celtic in 2021 and worked up the ranks through New York Red Bulls II until becoming a mainstay under three different coaches. The California-native has made double-digit appearances for the club since 2022 with a career-high 24 starts last season. Over his MLS career he’s scored four goals and notched four assists. In 2024 he’s only made 4 appearances.

“Cam has proven to be a great professional on and off the field,” said Head of Sport Jochen Schneider. “We are excited to have him with us.”

Before joining the Red Bulls, Harper spent time with Celtic in Scotland. He joined the club after turning down a scholarship to UCLA. His debut came against Hibernian in 2021 but he could never break into the first team with the Scottish Premier League giants. His move came shortly after and he has been with New York ever since.

Harper should play a role in New York’s game against FC Cincinnati this weekend as the team travels to TQL Stadium on Saturday.
