RB Leipzig have added another date to their US Tour, this time a stop in Miami to play English Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers. Leipzig will play Aston Villa to kick off their tour on July 31 and their second game will be on August 3rd.

“We’ve also been able to find an attractive opponent for our next friendly,” said RB Leipzig Chief Business Officer Johann Plenge. “Off the pitch there will be a number of activities together with Red Bull and other partners, which will continue to gain the support of football fans in the USA for RB Leipzig.”

If it feels as if Leipzig are still a bit of a mystery in the United States that is because they are. The East German club is the sister of MLS side New York Red Bulls but has spent much of its time climbing the ranks of the German football pyramid. They didn’t make it to the Bundesliga until 2016 where they immediately made a statement by finishing second behind Bayern Munich.

Over the years the team has planted its flag in the German top flight, winning two German cups and qualifying for European football in each of their eight seasons in the Bundesliga. Now, they look to expand their fanbase, like many top clubs in Europe, with a tour of the US and games against well-known clubs such as Aston Villa and Wolverhampton.
