RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo has checked off a major accomplishment on Sunday by being a part of the winning 2024 European Championship Spanish National team. The Spaniard finishes the competition tied for most goal contributions with fellow star Lamine Yamal with five, three goals and two assists.

“I am proud of them,” said Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente. “These players have made history and they still have a long way to go.”

Olmo joined his national team in 2019 and has pushed his way into a constant starting role under the new head coach. His best campaign with the club included a 2021 where he scored 10 total goals in all competition. All of this in spite of several injury spells which has slowed down his progress over the years. 2024 was no exception as his club career was very stop and start. The start was strong, scoring a hat trick against Bayern Munich.

While it wasn’t exactly perfect, the finish is certainly the stuff of dreams as Olmo’s performance was a strong reason why Spain lifted the European trophy. Now, the team sets their sights on 2026 and the potential of winning one of the biggest World Cups in recent memory.
