New York City FC have returned many of the players from 2025’s season and will now welcome back attacking midfielder Andres Perea. The 25 year-old Florida native has become an important part to NYC’s offense under first-year head coach Pascal Jansen. Now, his agreement will keep him with the club through 2028, ensuring that the midfield will have one of the more dynamic attackers in the MLS.
“I’ve felt so much love from the city, my teammates, the entire staff and the fans,” said Perea about his extension. “As a team, we’re doing everything we can to win an MLS Cup. I will continue to work hard and to develop as a player to achieve that goal.”
Perea joined NYCFC in 2023, first as a loanee from the Philadelphia Union and then on a permanent move one year later. The two full seasons he played with the club saw 20 plus appearances and six goals. 2025 was especially effective for the player as he was a major part of the team’s flow in the attack.
Unfortunately, his season came to an abrupt end in the MLS Cup Playoffs after suffering a lower-body injury. Despite that setback, the club feels strong about his future and have included him in their players for a 2026 where expectations are even higher than an exit in the Eastern Conference Final.
“To the passionate fans, stay with us,” said Perea. “We’ll continue to give everything we have to bring more trophies home.”
