The 2025 MLS Next Pro champions Red Bull New York II have a new head coach following the promotion on Michael Bradley to the first team. Assistant coach Dominik Wohlert steps up to take the role of head coach for the club heading into 2026.

“He possesses the qualities we look for in a head coach,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “Dominik has been an incredible asset as an assistant coach of our first team over the last four years.”

Wohlert joined Red Bull in 2022 under then head coach Gerhard Struber. He as an assistant coach of analysis before stepping up to become a full assistant under Sandro Schwarz in 2024. Over that time, the club won the Eastern Conference, falling just short of the club’s first MLS Cup in team history. Previously, the German coach honed his craft with Herta BSC in the Bundesliga, once again, in the analytics department.

Red Bull II has had the distinction of being one of the more prestigious jobs in American lower division soccer. Players like Aaron Long, Tyler Adams, Sean Davis, Sean Nealis, Mohammed Sofo and others have come through the team on their way to first division careers. Now, Wohlert steps into a role where expectations are high, not just on the field but also as a developer of young talent.

“We as a club have a strong identity and a proven pathway for young talents and I’m excited to build on that with energy, structure and ambition,” said Wohlert.
