Red Bull New York signed German international center back Robert Voloder to a three-year contract according to the team. Voloder has spent the last four seasons with Sporting KC, making him an MLS veteran to go along with the experience in the coaching and sporting staff.

“Robert is a strong, dependable defender,” said head coach Michael Bradley. “He has the ability to play the ball out of the back which will be valuable to us. We are excited about what he adds to our group and looking forward to getting to work with him.”

Voloder made 78 appearances for KC, recording one goal and two assists. Last year he made 18 total appearances and logging over a thousand minutes, making him a reliable option for Bradley. Last season, Red Bull relied on that rotation with Alexander Hack, Sean Nealis, Noah Eile and Tim Parker stepping in during the campaign.

The acquisition also means the club has depth of options heading into 2026. The club will take part in the US Open Cup and MLS regular season, forgoing the Leagues Cup for the first time in their history.

Voloder’s past saw him gain significant experience in the Bundesliga with FC Koln II where he made 27 appearances in the 2020-21 season. He joined MLS after a brief loan stint in Maribor in Slovenia.

“He’s been in competitive environments at a high level,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “We believe he has a lot to offer our club as we continue to build towards this season.”
