Red Bull New York announced the trade of Daniel Edelman to St. Louis City FC for General Allocation Money. The club will see $850,000 in total over three years for the trade.

“He has represented our club with the utmost professionalism,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “We appreciate everything he has done for the organization.”

Edelman came through the Red Bull reserve system, joining Red Bull II in 2020 and playing in 41 games. He made his first team debut in 2022, playing in a total of 96 games and earning the starting spot in the midfield by the 2024 season. Along the way he scored nine goals across all competitions.

2025 saw the young American make 25 appearances, scoring a goal in that spell. Unfortunately, the team was unable to make the MLS Cup Playoffs. Now, with the club in a rebuild under de Guzman and new head coach Michael Bradley, Edelman is moving on for a new challenge in the Western Conference.

Who patrols the midfield remains to be seen. Gustav Berggren, Adri Mehmeti, Ronald Donkor and Aiden Jarvis are all expected to compete for spots in the team. Whether or not another name is in the works for the club is also a question.
