Red Bull New York adds another weapon to their arsenal with the announcement of winger Jorge Ruvalcaba. The 24 year-old Mexican international represents the third, and final, designated player on the roster, joining for the famed Liga MX side UNAM Pumas.

“He is a dynamic, creative attacker that has shown great potential and a strong work ethic,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “We are confident that he will contribute to our success both on and off the field.”

Ruvalcaba made 28 total appearances last season, scoring six goals across various competitions. In total, he has made 84 appearances for Pumas since 2022 while also spending some time with Stade Leige in Belgium. His experience in Liga MX also helps with his adjustment to MLS. Both leagues have played each other over the years thanks to the Leagues Cup. Concacaf Champions Cup games have also served as a point of contact, which should make transitioning much easier.

International soccer has also been in Ruvalcaba’s past. He played with the Mexican U21 team and made one appearance with the senior team last January.

“We believe he will integrate well into our team,” said head coach Michael Bradley. “His versatility and pace will give us additional options in the attacking third. We are looking forward to working with him as he looks to integrate and contribute to the success of the team.”

The additional option of Ruvalcaba joins Cade Cowell as new pieces to the attack. The returning Cameron Harper, Mohammed Sofo, Serge Ngoma and Julian Hall will also continue fighting for minutes in 2026. Ravalcaba’s acquisition also gives captain Emil Forsberg the chance to return to a more playmaking position where he connected well with star striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
