Gotham FC isn’t blind to their lack of goals, especially during their recent three-game home stand where they they failed to score once. The results weren’t a total loss as two of the games were scoreless on both sides, giving them a point. However, it is a concern as only two points were grabbed out of nine during a stay that could have seen them take control of the standings.

“We’re not naive to the fact that we haven’t been putting the ball in the back of the net,” said Gotham midfielder Sarah Schupansky. “One goal in four games is below our standards. We’ve evaluating the chances we’ve created. The coaching staff isn’t disappointed in the number of chances, but we can improve the quality of those chances and make them more definitive.”

Many of the statistics that Gotham have won over the last three games are ones that should lead to goals. They’ve controlled possession, shots, crosses and corners. The team has also seen their star players get into good positions with Esther Gonzalez moving well in behind the defense but finding the back of the net difficult to land.

KC Current could be the perfect opponent to get the offense going. The club is on a three-match losing streak, surrendering multiple goals in each of those losses. Their only win came at home at CPKC Stadium, which is where they are returning under the new management of former Red Bull New York head coach Chris Armas.

Last time Gotham took to the road, they scored against Boston Legacy in front of an excited, and large, crowd at Gillette Stadium. Now, they’ll hope to continue that road form but without head coach Juan Carlos Amoros who is missing the game for personal reasons.
