Red Bull New York fight hard against MLS Cup Champion Inter Miami on Saturday night, drawing 2-2 at the Nu Stadium and keeping Miami from celebrating their first win at their new stadium. Goals from Jorge Ruvalcaba and Adri Mehmeti helped New York share the points and keeping the club close to the top of the Eastern Conference.

It was another wide open game for New York who continue to push their opposition while also allowing moments on the other end of the field. For Miami, they had the majority of the scoring chances but ran into strong defense and solid goalkeeping from Ethan Horvath.

The game’s first goal came from Jorge Ruvalcaba, the speedy winger who has provided moments in recent games but yet to end up on the stat sheet. This time it was a pass from Julian Hall, splitting the Miami defense for the game’s opening effort. Miami fought back and found the equalizer just before the halftime whistle through Mateo Silvetti’s second goal of the season.

The second half saw Miami press hard for the winner as the club looks to impress their home fans in their new stadium. It took 10 minutes before German Berterame, a key forward for the club in 2026, to find his first MLS goal of the year. Red Bull came close minutes before when Ruvalcaba placed the ball into the back of the net but saw his efforts negated by an offside call.

Red Bull found the goal for a point in the 77th minute when Hall got his second assist, finding Adri Mehmeti who placed the ball past Dane St. Clair. From there both teams battled with Horvath making key saves in stoppage, in particular, a free kick from Lionel Messi that required a reactionary save.

The draw sees Red Bull add to their road point total. This season they have five points, with their only loss being against Charlotte three weeks ago. Going to Miami is never easy, especially given the scenario of the club looking for their first win in the southern Florida city. New York will turn around quickly for a US Open Cup game at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Wednesday against USL Championship winners Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
