Lauded young Serbian striker Jovan Mijatovic had high expectations in MLS but it ends after just one season and no goals as the player moves to the Belgian first-division club Oud-Heverlee through the end of the European calendar.
The move, which was rumored to be for about eight million dollars last summer, is a surprising one considering the lack of strike options currently available to new head coach Pascal Janssen. Alonso Martinez may have the starting spot for the 2025 season but others such as Mounsef Bakrar have proven to be relatively ineffective, possibly having paved the way for Mijatovic to garner more appearances.
That doesn’t appear to be the case as the Serbian was vocal in his native country about his lack of opportunities, most of which came with the MLS Next Pro reserve club. Now, more questions arise as City’s roster continues to look thin heading into preseason friendlies in Coachella Valley.
