Omar Valencia and Adri Mehmeti have signed first team contracts with the New York Red Bulls, making the move from the highly touted Red Bulls II team just in time for the 2025 season. Both players featured heavily with the MLS Pro club in the 2024 season and have proven themselves to the coaching staff.
“Omar has shown great development over the last two seasons with New York Red Bulls II,” said Sporting Director Julian de Guzman. “We are excited to help him continue his development.”
Valencia joined the Red Bull family from the Panamanian club Plaza Amador where he made eight appearances before coming to the United States. With New York Red Bulls II, Valencia made 37 appearances and has been earmarked as a future first team starter by many observers.
With Mehmeti, the contract is a Homegrown deal. The Staten Island native becomes yet another in a long list of local players to be signed by the first team. Players like Daniel Edelman, Sean Nealis, Dylan Nealis, John Tolkin and others have come through the pipeline and found success in the first team.
“Adris is an exceptional young midfielder that has shown great progress in his development with New York Red Bulls II,” said de Guzman. “He is a great person on and off the field and we are excited to add him to our roster.”
