Red Bull New York head coach Michael Bradley understands the task in front of him as the club travels to Gillette Stadium to play the New England Revolution on Wednesday evening. The club has notoriously had a difficult time getting results in Foxboro but the current situation sees that they need a result in order to keep pace with the playoff pack in the Eastern Conference.

“They traditionally have had good teams and so going there is never easy,” said Bradley ahead of the fixture. “At this time of year we’re excited by the part of playing big games with a lot on the line, as we always do.”

The situation couldn’t be more important for Red Bull as the club sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with every game being played as if it were a final. This past weekend, that mentality took center-stage as the club toppled one of the MLS Cup favorites, 2-0, over Inter Miami. This included forcing an own goal and getting another from their veteran leadership in Emil Frosberg.

What is required in Foxboro will more than likely be the ability to convert chances to goals from their young forwards. Julian Hall missed a key opportunity and Jorge Ruvalcaba also missed on key chances that could have made the game less of an issue in the first half against Miami. New England is a separate challenge all together as they are currently sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference and present a different outlook than Miami.

“We’ll look at New England closely and understand the things that make them a good team,” said Bradley. “We will be ready to try to do everything possible to put the game on our terms and push thing, and to be the team that going after it in every way.”

This will be the second of three games in eight days. A result in New England will be massive as the club travels to Nashville over the weekend. While Nashville has already locked in the Supporters Shield, they are looking to be the best team in MLS history, should they gather five more points. It could be a scenario where Red Bull are looking for the least while Nashville is looking for their peak.
