Red Bull New York will end the 2027 Sprint Season against rivals NYCFC at either Yankee Stadium or City Field as announced on Apple’s MLS Countdown Show on Wednesday. Both teams are playing tonight against New England and Atlanta respectively with both clubs still fighting for MLS Playoff security. Only three games remain for both clubs with each point counting as the hourglass slowly slips away.

City and Red Bull have a long history against each other, with their two most recent high-profile games going in favor of the New Jersey based club. This past year saw an important regular season game go in favor of Red Bull thanks to a timely goal from Julian Hall. Previously the clubs have met only once in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2024 where Red Bull snagged a 2-0 win at Citi Field, on their way to an Eastern Conference title.

NYCFC have had their own level of success in the rivalry, advancing to the Eastern Conference Final last year and winning MLS Cup in 2021. The club has raised more significant silverware in their 12-year history and hope to continue their success in 2027 when they open Etihad Park for the start of the restructured campaign next summer.

Both clubs have significant fan bases and hope that their success will make that final game of the sprint season one that feels just as important as the playoff games that will follow. More will come on both club’s sprint season schedule on Thursday afternoon.
